| Answer to: DEF Fluid in Lexus Fuel Tank | 35Relevance | 2 years ago | MountainManJoe | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Not exactly. DEF is a 32.5% solution of urea, which is actually neither acid or basic, and safe to handle. When it is injected into the hot exhaust gas stream, the urea thermally decomposes to form ammonia. However, urea does react with some metals. time will tell. | Providing you did indeed completely purge the fuel system of anymore DEF, you should be fine. DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) contains ammonia, which is highly corrosive to almost anything made of metal. Providing you got to it quickly, you should be OK. I used to work at a metal plating company, and they used ammonia in 275 gallon totes that were made of plastic. | |||||

A wind generator on top of my car? We live in France and have never seen so many fields growing sunflowers since we have lived here in 2005. Are we going to use sunflower oil to power our diesel car and camping-car? What is the emission output from this? | |||||

| ... plastic so the w.w reservoir looks exactly like the coolant reservoir down to the cover. The coolant is also blue the same color of wash my dad put in. He used a hand pump to remove all the liquid from the reservoir but did not refill it. Yesterday I checked and added a bottle of water to the reservoir leaving it between low and full. How bad is this for the cooling system? I checked coolant in radiator it is clean but smells burnt and has a slight smell of ammonia. Car has been driven a little over 100 miles in high heat since this happened. Do you think t ... | |||||
