| Answer to: Abs and engine light | 21Relevance | 5 years ago | yaser | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Don't worry about the ABS light. You should fix the p0420 code first and reset the codes. The reason that ABS light came on is because you have an engine trouble code (P0420) and it triggers the ABS light (This is normal for Toyota cars). For the p0420, check out the sensors before and after the cat and if they are working properly, change them. most of the time, doing that will solve your engine code. Good luck. | |||||
| Answer to: Don't Ignore P0420 codes | 21Relevance | 1 year ago | Hixster | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| When did Scotty say to "you can ignore a PO420 code"? A flashing CEL means attention required immediately , a non-flashing CEL means attention required soon. A PO420 code typically causes a non-flashing CEL. Regardless, a PO420 is a common code but it does not mean "you definitely have a bad catalytic converter". Many things can cause this code: and none of the causes for it should be ignored. | |||||

| Answer to: CONFUSED! | 21Relevance | 5 years ago | geriscan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Generally, a catalytic converter problem will trip a p0420 code. p0420 usually means a problem with either the 02 sensor or the catalytic converter. If you don't have a p0420, you shouldn't have a problem with the cat or the 02 sensor. I'm not familiar with the FIXD app (unlike Blue Driver and MX Plus, which I am familiar with. I'm assuming that there's enhanced diagnostics/mode6/live data modes). I don't know if or what modes you've run, but run them multiple times, to ensure that the readings are at least consistent. NOW, it may be that your convert ... | |||||
| Don't Ignore P0420 codes | 21Relevance | 1 year ago | MinivanMom1990 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, I just wanted to tell you to stop telling people they can ignore a p0420 code. You do have to fix them. I ignored my p0420 code for 4 years because I thought my 2006 Sienna was just picky about the aftermarket cats I had put on it in 2021. Wrong. It started rattling in Dec 2023 but we didn't know where the rattle was coming from. In June 2024, we tried to take it on a road trip from Virginia to Memphis TN, we stopped at the rest stop just before Bristol, got back on the interstate, only made it one exit down and the car just stopped running. | Carbon build up can also trigger code p0420. Had that happen to my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lared threw that code up but there were no symptoms of a failing O2 sensor or cat but it did have some power loss. Bought Seafoam Intake Cleaner and after it cleared all the carbon out the check engine light and code p0420 was killed | |||||
