| No. Because then I want to check it over and see what the fluids look like, how it runs, tire flat spots. A lot of times those kinds of cars have been sitting before the owner passed, and sitting more while their estate gets worked out. Plus I would never knowingly buy a car for myself that belonged to a dead person. Just have a thing about that. | |||||

| The catalytic converters aren't critical to the car's safety, California won't like you driving with one missing, but not having it can cause long term issues (running too lean can cause overheating, for example). Depending on where the fuel filter is in that car, you may be able to drain it out from the filter. Odds are it's in the fuel tank with the pump and the tank needs dropped. | |||||

| 2016 Subaru Legacy sitting for three years, steps for getting it running again? Hello, I have a 2016 Subaru Legacy with 74K miles. It has been parked since March 2020 (open to the elements). I have been taking care of my elderly mother out of state for three years and this is my first chance to return home to get my car running. So far I have only changed the battery. The car started no problem, which was a good feeling. The car has sat through some winters so the engine has rust in some areas, as do the brake pads. The car has 3/8 tank of gas. As I un ... | |||||

| Scotty, After I got my current car, my old Saturn SL was impossible to sell (manual transmission, no air conditioning). Hoping to some day give it to my daughters, I “stored” it for later use. Well, one decade later I really should do something with it! I did nothing to prepare it for a decade of idleness, so I’m not sure how to restart it without causing more damage. What procedure should I follow to try to start it, or should it just be sold to a junk yard? (The car was running perfectly, and had about 100,000 km.) thanks! | |||||

| ... over and shut the key off. No warning, no stuttering...just shut off. I coasted to the side of the road. I was afraid that the catalytic converter would catch the grass on fire, so I tried to restart the car. It started right up, and I drove off. The car ran perfectly after that. The next time it stalled I didn't even pull over. I just put the car in neutral, waited for all of the dash lights to come on, restarted the car, put it back in drive and continued on my merry way. The car would be fine for weeks, even months, then suddenly it would stall. At t ... | |||||

| Ok got all the gas i could out of the tank, then changed the fuel filter and took it for a drive and it drove like a champ! Even the rattling in the Catalytic converter stopped, but im assuming it will come back with time. So now i just have to drive it to set the computer. Oh also thanks to one of your video's i bought a bottle AT 205 re seal, drained the transmission changed the filter and added the reseal while refilling the transmission fluid. Once i topped it off i drove for 30 min and then parked it over night and so far there is no leak from where my transmission connects to the engine. So far things are looking good for this car, appreciate everyone who posted. | |||||
