I have a 01 chevy tahoe 4x4 it has a 5.3 vortec engine & a 4l60e transmission i have 370k miles on the original engine i fairly recently replaced my transmission & transfer case at 352k it shifts great but top end end power is not there it feels like it wants to push more power but cant. I want to know what your opinions are on 4l60e Corvette servos along with performance/durability or if there are other performance parts i can find to boost the limits without blowing anything. I also have a serious question about my steering; i have so much play approximately 1 inch of play in the steering while parked or driving ive been told it may be the intermediate steering shaft upper & lower but ive also been told it is not the steering shafts but that my steering gear box is the problem im not sure what the problem actually is but i really do need help ASAP Thank you.
corvette servo won't give you any more power. You need to look at the engine. After 370k it's not going be performing like new. You can try a top end rebuild or a fuel system cleaning, but don't expect miracles.
The coupling in your steering shaft or even u joints on the steering wheel shaft is NOT the problem. If you had one inch of play in them they would have twisted and turned 360 in the shaft. Look at your steering box..you can adjust them but one inch means it is worn out. I would recommend a remanufactured replacement pronto.
BUT before replacement the one inch play is an accumulated measurement of ALL the play in your front end so its conceivable to adjust your steering wheel box to specs and also repair other loose item that are worn in your front end. namely you need to take it to a front end shop and get a guesstimate to what is wrong and HOW MUCH without any commitments.
Engine is good not excepting much output after 370k i cant lie she still responds like new i just need more power output on my transmission if possible, ive done a full front end rebuild from top to bottom so thats what bothers me also did a full rear end swap and build after i blew my differential.
it's not about the response of the engine is all about HOW much HP can it put out. You should consider a 5.7 engine swap or better a 6.0 You can't get more power out of any transmission...it only uses what power you have to give a numerical advantage of the powerband of the engine.
