Hey Scotty been watching your videos for a long time! I own a 2002 hyundai accent GL 1.6 manual fwd with 110,000miles bought it used with 108,000miles. Your probably going to hate this question BUT I have to know. How do i get more power!? What if any little thing can i do for more torque? Anything. The highway in CT is fast and i want to keep up better. Could I get a slightly larger diameter exhaust? No larger than 2" in my mind. A better flowing cat? And ive seen thing done with the carburetor but do not know what to make of it. I know you do not like those after market air filters but ive seen one coming from the carburetor as well and do not know what to make of it. I want to tinker and I'm aware some kind of dyno, and scanner will be involved and don't mind a project but my abilities are limited. Thank you for your time best wishes to you your like a saint!

I say save money and do regular maintenance on the car because if you install mods on that car you won't get much power out of it and will be wasting money. So in my opinion save for something big like honda si or civic type r or maybe lexus.

You can get sports tires for better handling

Installing turbo or super charge will blow up the engine

I think hundayi accent have sports mod u can also use that

Drive the car in manual and shift at perfect rpm which should be between 6 to 7 i checked for u

And drive without eco mod

Although u will get poor milage ..

You have fuel injection on that car just so you know.

But there's nothing worth putting money towards for it. The displacement is just too small and it really wasn't mean to hold boost or anything. I'd save for something faster.

And I don't think Scotty hates any questions. 🙂

Gotcha thank you

Glad you weren’t disappointed..

It's silly to spend money on mods and expect a lot of power from a car with an engine displacement similar to motorcycles. Just buy a faster car.

The engine in your vehicle is Hyundai’s 1.6L Alpha II engine (code G4ED), which uses electronic fuel injection (no carburetor).  Now, the 1.3L Alpha engine (G4EA) has a carburetor, but you mentioned the 1.6L engine.  It doesn’t make sense to modify the engine if you haven’t already verified it is running fine.  Is your air filter clean, MAP, throttle body, fuel filter, fuel injectors clean?  No vacuum leaks (both intake and exhaust)?  How do your fuel trims (both STFT and LTFT), how do your O2 sensor (upstream and downstream) readings look?,  is your catalytic converter working?  You have to establish you have a good running engine first.  See below on the Alpha II 1.6L engine:

Thank you for that I appreciate it.

@CTJASON, no problem. Just trying to help as best I can.

Your '02 Hyundai has a carburettor? 😮

I mean if you know it doesn't just say so lol

Fuel injection has been used since the 80's, but hey anything is possible. Especially with cheap Korean cars.

Haha odd place place to find a bully. Thanks for the info 👍

I'm a bully?
Boy are you going to have a rough time in this life. 🙂

Sounds like you already have 🙂

Not really. I'm just used to speaking my mind with peers, and not being handled with kid gloves.
