hi all, my first question here! I have a 2003 f150 that has had a misfire since I got it about 8 months ago. It was driveable, but I decided it was time to get it fixed. I took it to my mechanic that I trust and he says it skipped a tooth somewhere along the way and it needs a timing job. My question is…is it worth having it done? I understand cars, it I’m not good at doing that kind of job myself. The truck is. 2wd, 188k miles ,auto transmission, 4.6 engineI was told the trans was rebuilt at 140 but I have no paperwork, the fluid looks great though. The rest of the truck is fine. What would you do?

How much did your mechanic quote for the job?
What’s your other option? Get another vehicle? How much would you need to spend on another vehicle vs a timing job?
