Heat on drivers side and only cold air coming out on the passenger side of a 2004 4Runner V6. Was told heater core is dirty, but didn't do a complete flush. Another mechanic said it might be actuator door problem. Not dual temperature. I hope its not big labor if it is the actuator doors not working. Thanks Scotty and friends.
The problem is in the heat not flowing thru...door actuator is suspect for sure. You would have to probably take apart the heatr box and see what happened. Could be the actuator works but the door may have fallen out of one of the pivot posts...Heater and coolant is fine otherwise you would not have ANY heat.
I saw a guy on YouTube say he had same problem and said he replaced heater core and it fixed the problem. Heater core being half plugged maybe, but I'm no mechanic. And it gets plenty hot on drivers side.
I don't know about that..unless it is a two part heater which diverts heat two ways...or let me think...the flow of air is in two parts so one flows thru the good unrestricted part and another flows to the restricted part which has little heat....Okay lets say its a partical plug...then do this...disconnect the heat hose lines and use a garden hose to flush out any debris or obstructions if you can. make sure you use some towel on the garden hose as its going to back shoot at you. Once you did that a couple of times..then do the other side...back and forth to move any obstruction. It's cheap and you have nothing to lose. The only bad thing is if the obstruction is really caked and stuck in there..your core is still restricted but if you got any debris out..its better now than before...You can hook up the hoses and see if thats true eh?
So had a mechanic do that and he said it was definitely dirty, but thought i should still get a full flush because he said he didn't have a flush machine. He said he got it hot briefly on the passenger side, but then it went cold again.
