04 Nissan Xterra 3.3 litre not starting

Car dies on side of freeway, tows home  would not start but cranks.so checked fuel pump pump gas ok. Sprayed engine  start would start but died , bought new battery  it was not good anyway , bought new distributor  marked and set still no start. Had injectors checked sprayed gas , no start but cranked, but new fuel pump. Bought crank position  sensor,  but mobile mechanic  keep telling its getting  spark , so that's not it , so I took it back primped fuel pump turn key but not crank motor did like 5-10 times using  key with chip still crank no start all fuse look good ...I am lost could it be crank position  sensor. Need your help  spent a lot of money already my email is [personal info redacted], my cell [personal info redacted] please help me

If the engine briefly runs when you spray starting fluid into the intake you are obviously getting spark, so it is most likely a fuel delivery problem. See the site FAQ for details on troubleshooting a no-start condition.


Hi we put in new fuel pump and filter , checked 2 injectors there ok , do you think crank sensor could prevent it from starting , an old mechanic told me it could

Why don't you get it scanned for codes to find out what is really wrong instead of wasting your time and money just guessing?


I did no codes


I had to different mobile mechanics come out trying to read codes and figure out what's going on they both stop showing up

Yes, of course it can. However in that case there would be no spark so you the engine would not have tried to start when you used starting fluid.

A test for the crank sensor is to see if you get an RPM reading on a scan tool while cranking. If there's no reading the crank sensor is bad.
