Have an automatic 05 Corvette with about 56k that is showing a code for TCU not communicating with CPU. The traction control light is illuminated the car won't shift and the speedometer doesn't register but tack does. Some one said be the speed sensor. Help. Were do I start and how do I check? Don't even know what I'm looking for. Retire guy on fixed income so am trying to do it myself. Thanks in advance your help has been invaluable in the past! You are greatly appreciated in YouTube land!

Well if I were you I would just buy a speed sensor and check the wiring to make sure it's good cuz anything else is going to get super expensive

repair/diagnosis is as follows:
- check fuses
- unplug TCM. inspect connector for moisture/corrosion etc.
- use multimeter to ensure TCM has good power + ground connections
- replace/reprogram TCM
It will cost around $700 to have this done at a shop.
