my 17 yr old daughter bought an 06 avalon full load for 5k 215000km on it with a rebuilt title. I went through it as I am somewhat mech inclined. no visible damage at all. looks quite nice. she is 300km away and my job is to worry as a parent. big city, big car. wonderingnif she did okay on this?
There's no way to know, if she didn't have it inspected. Without a diagnostic scan, a closely observed drive, a look underneath the carriage to see the exact nature of the damage (accident, flood, leaks, bent), it's a pure crap shoot. Plus, the electronics on an 06 Avalon might be affected, now or later.
You'll end up worrying because these are, as Rumsfeld put it, "known unknowns." She'll have to learn the hard way about the necessity of gathering up facts and remaining emotionally detached before making a sensible cost/benefit decision.
So, if you're looking for reassurance or solace, I can't offer it to you. There are some lessons kids have to learn on their own.
