07 Grand Cherokee - Humming/whining coming from engine bay

Scotty,

     I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 V8, 222K miles, automatic transmission and no codes (currently).  I have a slight humming/whining coming from the engine bay that increases when I accelerate.  I'm guessing it's either a pulley on the AC compressor, the tensioner itself or maybe even the power steering pump beginning to fail.  I replaced the alternator about 10k ago with a brand new unit so I know it's not that.  Any advice or idea about what you think it could be?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Its the transmission beginning to fail most likely. That car is a rolling pile of shit. My mom owned one years ago and the transmission just got worse and worse and worse.

Check this other post. This is your future: https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/2000-jeep-grand-cherokee-transmission/#post-2960

Get rid of that thing ASAP Jeeps are one of the worst cars you can possibly own.

@jacksonishere

Thank you for the reply but I doubt it's the transmission. It's not slipping, has a different tranny than the 2000 GC your mom had (42RE vs. 545RFE) and runs fine otherwise. I plan on doing the stethoscope trick tomorrow or the next day to attempt to isolate it further but it also makes the noise when in neutral with the engine revved which leads me to believe again that it's not the transmission. So I'm thinking a pulley, tensioner or the power steering pump.

definitely check those things too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy5nqh3LSs4
