Hello my names oliver, i have a 2008 honda civic coupe ex automatic, its bone stock and lately its been shutting off on my while driving….ive changed the spark plugs, the battery, i had the alternator checked and its still good, ive changed the oils, filters and the transmission oil but it continues to do it, i dont know what else it can be. Please help…thank you for your time
With shutting off, do you mean the engine stalls or do you lose complete power of everything (radio, dash lights, etc)?
Have you tried using a scan tool?
If you don't have one here are some things you can look for.
Check if you have a solid ground (wherever that wire leads to) that connection tends to corrode over time. You can easily check this by testing resistance between the ground terminal and any exposed metal part in the car (body or engine block).
Check if the exhaust is plugged up (could be a bad catalytic converter)
Check the intake filter.
Check your fuel pump
Check for loose harness on the ECU (I don't know where it is in your car but it should be somewhere upfront of the engine bay next to your radiator)
The last thing I could think of is bad gas or water in the tank.
Hopefully one of these will help you. Good luck!
The car just completely shuts off, like i said i did all those things and recently did a fuel injectors cleaning but i have no idea what else it could be, I’ll definitely check out your suggestions and see what helps
Since you say you put in a new battery, check the main cable connections for cleanliness and tightness especially the grounding cable at the battery and the body connection.
Pressure test the fuel pump.
