I have an automatic 2008 Honda Pilot EX-L with just under 152,000 miles that has a power steering fluid leak. The mechanic I took it to said the steering rack and pinion need to be replaced. What is a reasonable price to expect to pay for this job including labor? Also thank you Scotty, I’m very grateful for all that you do.
Well it's a very expensive job it has to be a very good shop because they have to have a front end alignment machine to realign the front end after the job is done. And if you buy a brand new rack from Honda you're total bill is going to be well over $2,100.
I really appreciate the quick response. It’s a NAPA shop and they gave a total quote of $1,900 which just seemed high based on what I could find online but you’re my car guru so that makes me feel better about the price. Also I’m sorry I should’ve included that info in the first question.. Is their quote a little lower than $2,100 because it’s NAPA parts vs. new Honda parts?
