- Hi there. A couple days ago both the ABS light and the Traction Control lights came on my 09 Silverado. Screen says "service traction control" and "service stabilitrak". The code it gave was C0050, which said "Right Rear Wheel Speed Circut Sensor Fault". So I replaced that sensor and the lights came right back on with the same code. Could it be the new sensor is no good or is it more likely the wiring?
well that's where you really need a fancy scan tool like I use as a professional mechanic rather than guess I can plug it in I can drive the car I can see what dad is coming from each sensors and I can buy directionally test them
C0050 is a circuit code, not a history code...sensor probably wasn't bad.
Problem is poor electrical connection...check connector pins and wiring from where you plugged in new sensor toward front of truck. (corrosion, rodent chewed, pinched, cut by road debris, etc)
'C' is for chassis. C codes are usually related to ABS, traction and stability control, wheel speed, steering assist etc.
Communication codes start with 'U'
Without being able to look at the data... first place I'd shoot the shotgun is at the wheel speed sensor pickup ring, clean first, if no go, replace and pray. Albeit after checking wiring. GL
