Sunday:  car begin to not acceralete well, rough idle--almost seemed like a plug misfire. Autozone read p0202, p0302, and its typical p0456 its had for many years (along with 3 gas caps).

Tuesday: 1/2 tank fuel, out in bottle of gumout regain high mileage.  Started and drive for 20 min.  All seemed normal, like there never was an issue.

Then about an hour later, drove across town with it poor acceraleration again (better than Sun) and shaking like at old school V8 at stop lights. Heavier push of gas pedal seem to run better.

Now at 1/4 tank, should I put in another bottle of gumout and drive until empty, then fill up?

Or take to Valvoline and have them do the $120+ fuel cleaning?

Or just take to my mechanic and stop avoiding the inevitable $500 to $1000 repair bill I am sure it will be...

Thanks

You probably need to do the pressure cleaning of the injectors. Do you know what exactly does "$120+ fuel cleaning" do?

You can also try adding BG cleaner into the gas tank (it is pretty expensive though), but if you can find a mechanic who can do the fuel injector pressure cleaning, that's better.

valvoline's cleaning connects to fuel rail and they do not take out the fuse as I recall. So it seems it will get diluted with fuel.
