Scotty: I have a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 dually with a 6.6 Duramax Diesel and Allison Transmission. It has 110,000 miles. Aside from replacing the glow plugs and the DEF system (under warranty), with routine maintenance I have been very happy with the reliability and performance of the vehicle. We use it primarily to tow our 38-foot 5th wheel.
My question is: If I was going to buy a new tow vehicle this year (which I am not), what is the most reliable 1-ton truck (engine, transmission, etc.) for 2024?
Thanks, Lance
if it's a tow vehicle, stick to diesel like your current truck. that said, I don't know too much about the newer trucks. Just don't get a Ram. the Allison transmissions are excellent transmissions so if I were you I'd keep your truck. the 3500 and 2500 GM trucks are made a lot better than a 1500.
