19 Durango Oil Smells Like Gas

Scotty, my 2019 Durango has 111,000 miles and recently had the fuel pump replaced. I’m a huge fan of your videos. Not a mechanic but I do anything I can myself thanks to you. When friends ask me questions, I reference you.  When it was at the dealer (stealership), they told me the valve cover gaskets are worn (2). I see dried oil but don’t know why they were in there. I had no complaints besides no fuel. I can get to the one (maybe) but have no idea where the other is. Either way, they’re telling me gas is getting in there because of it. I don’t believe it. Can that cause it? Oil is always dark before the regular changes. No engine light, truck runs like a top for me. Had it since 18,000 miles. They want $2000+. I don’t think so. What do you think? Thank you!!

Sounds like stealership shenanigans. Even if you have leaky valve cover gaskets that would not cause the oil to smell like gas. I wouldn't worry about valve cover gaskets unless they're leaking badly, a little seepage won't hurt anything.

To @chucktobias ‘s point; can you smell gas in the oil? Your olefactory detection system is probably as accurate as the techs at the dealership.😉
