I have a 2019 Honda Civic if I have the battery load tested at oreily’s when the car is at normal operating temperature, will it still be able to tell accurately that my battery is still good even if the engine is at normal temperature or does my engine need to be cold for the load test to be accurate?
Just make sure the vehicle is charged, ask for the CCA, cold cranking amperage.
voltage is one thing, charging is another, and then we have CCA.
if CCA is low, voltage can still be normal, but not strong enough to start the car
especially in the cold winter months.
so, if you find yourself in need of a battery moving forward buy a battery with
higher CCA that what came with the car, the cost is minimal.
Good luck,
The test gives you an overall idea of the battery's health. If it's healthy then it should start the car in cold weather. If it's weak or borderline, then you might experience some trouble.
@mountainmanjoe
I did my own test and it said my battery was at 12.56 volts on a cold battery
@akroeker1
Voltage alone isn't enough information. Get a proper test using a carbon pile load tester.
