Im looking at a 1981 Cadillac DeVille, with the 8-6-4 V8 engine. Im under the belief that it has the cylinder shut off feature. it seems to have low mileage, runs and drives great, the odometer says around 50,000 but im not super sure if its been turned over. its had two owners beforehand. the interior is in perfect shape, the outside isn't 2 bad either. Because of the possibility that it has the cylinder shutoff function, i would like to know if i should buy it, or if i should run like hell from it? thx for anyone that answers this question; owner wants $3500
The cylinder deactivation setup on those was very troublesome and long since disconnected on the vast majority of any of those cars that survive.
It could be a fun weekend toy. As a daily driver, run away.
