Hi i have a 1983 fleetwood brougham with the ht4100 motor the car starts up fine drives fine
I have a very strong smell of gas coming from exhaust to the point it burns my eyes
what can cause this? The car has been tuned up

Running too rich.

Is it coming from the exhaust or from the gas tank and fuel lines back there? Rubber parts nearly 40 years old are highly suspect. What did your old spark plugs look like? If it's running way too rich they would have been carbon fouled.
