Hello there Scotty. Wondering what your thoughts are of a 1986 Toyota Camry 2.0L 4 speed automatic with 157,864 original miles on it? Body is in immaculate shape, same with interior, and is only listed for $1000. I really don’t care or worry about having to work on older vehicles as my dad and I always work on them and know all the problems they may have. Thinking of it as a commuter car for my dad when he is not using his truck for jobs and then in a year when I can drive I would drive it as my first car? What do you think?

That old thing is not worth that much. When you start putting miles on that car, everything is going to be wearing out, drying out , rusting, cracking etc. If it doesn't already, soon it's going to need a new engine or tranny and at that point it's going straight into the compactor.

I would never touch anything that old, but if you have to have it, the get the price down by at least HALF.

But my advice is put some more money together, wait until you can drive, and then get something half decent that actually has some life left in it.
