hesitation during acceleration

1991 cadillac brougham 5.7 350

 

when i put the car on drive or reverse AND give it gas it hesitates wants to shut off ONLY when i press the pedal pretty much the car lost power

I tried adjusting the timing no luck

What else can it be?

Things changed

Ignition coil

Distributor rotor

Spark plugs and wires

Fuel filter

Ignition Control moduel

Egr vavle

Did you check for OBD1 codes? Fuel pressure?

I changed fuel pump no luck can it be the Catalyc converter?

Was there a reason to change the fuel pump? Was fuel pressure low? Did you use an OEM pump? Parts should not be replaced unless troubleshooting flags them as bad.

You can test the catalytic converter for excessive back pressure.
