1991 Lincoln Town Car belt squeal persists after repair

Hi Scotty!

I drive a 1991 Lincoln Town Car with the 4.6 modular V8 that had a seized idler pulley that was causing a nasty accessory belt squeal. I took the tensioner off and replaced the bad pulley with a new one. For a couple days it was quiet but then the belt squeal slowly returned. It's definitely not being caused by that pulley anymore, the new one spins freely and does not vibrate. I'm also not sure why the noise returned gradually instead of continuing to be present as soon as the repair was finished. I have verified that the belt is on correctly and is not on anything other than the pulleys themselves. The car has about 160,000km on it. Any ideas?

Did you replace the belt as well?

Check all your other pulleys - alternator, ac, power steering, water pump, etc.
