1992 chevy, lumina 180000 miles, automatic
I have a problem that seems to be confusing the mechanics so far and from what I've been hearing it's a pretty common issue but I just can't seem to find someone that's fixed the issue. The Lumina will start choking out and stall at idle doesn't seem to do it when driving. It's a pretty new car to me the last owner said he only drove it around town a few times in 3 years. This all started the day I took it home I had it on the freeway something it hasn't done in about 3 years ore more had it up to about 80 and it seems right after I hit 80 and slowed down just a little it all started. The rpms were bouncing pretty low and it sounded like the engine was choking out and it stalled. Right after that started back up and drove 15 minutes back home just fine. But it keeps doing it. Yesterday the mechanic replace the crankshaft position sensor because he said it was cracked. Got to the shop to pick the car up started it. Ran good for probably 3 minutes choked out and stalled. If you have any experience with these old Chevy luminas please help, I really need this car to work out.
Ignition module was broke. Runs and idles just fine now.

Test your fuel pressure
Yes it's also worth noting that the mechanics have checked spark and fuel pressure. When it happens there won't be any spark from what I've heard but the coil packs and everything to do with the ignition system is pretty new.
sounds like an intermittent electrical gremlin. Hard to track down. Especially on a vehicle of that vintage where everything is aging. It's going to take some scoping and measuring.
Yeah that's what I was scared of.
I've hurd a lot about this same problem with these 90s luminas. So many people with the same issue but I just can't find someone that's fixed it.
