We live in the country and are thinking of getting a small utility vehicle for hauling stuff. I was out driving today and my wife and I came across a guy with a truck that we liked and we started talking to him. I was telling him how much I liked his truck and he seemed interested in selling.
I'm not a truck guy at all and wanted your thoughts.
1993 Chevy S10 4.3 fuel injected (based on the markings on the truck)
163,000 km (101283 miles)
wants $12,000 CAD ($8,880 USD).
Guy claims to be the second owner, in talking with him it appeared to take care of the truck. We're up in Quebec and he says that he never drives it in the winter (being a small truck I can see how that would be wise), the bottom is solid. A quick look around and the truck looked in good shape for its age.
Obviously I'd get an inspection before doing anything but I wondered if you had any high level thoughts on the make and model?
Thanks Scottie. You're the best.
Sounds like an insane price for a pickup truck that's over 30 years old but I don't know the market in Canada. They were certainly made better back then that current GM offerings but you'll likely have a a number of issues to deal with due to age even if miles aren't too high.
Bear in mind that being pre-OBD2 many mechanics will not want to work on it. Many were just little kids when that thing was built, some not even born yet.
