Hey guys, I recently bought a 1996 Celica GT Convertible Manual as a knockaround car. It was pretty neglected and I noticed the wrong power steering fluid had been in the system. It's the yellow kind. The car is meant to take DexIII ATF. The fluid doesn't look bad (nor great), but normally I would want to change it. I wanted to do the turkey baster method to avoid dealing with dryrotting hoses. Is it worth doing the whole system drain?
Thanks.
Hey guys, I bought a '96 Celica GT convertible 5 speed manual 184k miles and the previous owner has the regular yellow power steering fluid in the system, not the red DexIII ATF fluid. The fluid looks pretty clean. How critical is it that it be the red stuff? Are they mixable?
Thanks!
Dry-rotted hoses should be replaced. They'll just wind up leaking or even bursting.
