1996 Ford Motorhome with a 460 getting a 212 and 628 Codes
runs fine in every gear but overdrive then we get odd reving and almost "limp mode"
212 (M) Ignition TACH signal was erratic (module/wiring) or SPOUT circuit fault – Ignition Systems
628 (M) Excessive converter clutch slippage -Transmissions
Took to a transmission guy and he is telling us this is mechanical and the trans is fine
Is this a sensor issue? some folks say ICm (Gray vs Black) some say there is a Tachometer sensor but I cannot find any info on that.
Code 212: Check and see if the spout connector is good.
Code 628: You might have to replace the torque converter itself. Realize that it's a pain to do so (removing the whole transmission to get to it) but you won't have to rebuild/replace the transmission since your mechanic said that your transmission is fine.
