So today I got everything unbolted ready to take trans out Tommorow...so transmission is about half inch away from the engine...and I have oil dripping out between the separation....would this be due to a rear main leak?? Just wondering...all trans fluid is drained out

Pull the transmission out and take a look. It'll be either the rear main or the transmission's front seal was leaking. You may as well replace that rear main for good measure anyways since you're already this far and the seal is 25 years old. I would for peace of mind.
Also may as well look at replacing the camshaft seal too. That can't be done without yanking the transmission either.
