I have a geo prizm lsi, automatic, with 177,000 miles. The engine was vibrating when i put it in gear.  I purchased a set of 4 motor mounts a year ago. Shortly after i got the mounts I replaced the transmission (driver side) mount, I didnt have a way to change the rear mount so I left it. A month ago I didnt want the other three mount to go to waste so i had someone install the rear mount (by the firewall) and the front mount (by the radiator). I planned to change the passanger mount myself but havent done it yet becsuse now the car vibrates worse and there is a clunk sometimes when i start the car.

Could someone tell me if maybe i bought a bad set of mounts, they are from taiwan if that matters, they cost around $100.  Should i look for a better set of mounts?

Your torque converter could be worn, causing excess vibration. (They can go for years that way.) It would not surprise me to find that aftermarket mounts from Taiwan don't absorb vibration as well as OEM.

Scotty has said that he has a similar problem with his '94 Celica and he just puts it in neutral at stop lights if it's bothersome.
