1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 oil pressure gauge drops at idle

1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 4.0 automatic, two wheel drive, 207,000 miles. I drove the last 100,000 miles myself, before that my wife bought it with 100,000 for a $1000 - So technically a 2 owner truck . Truck does not burn oil or smoke, oil gets changed every 2000 miles with non synthetic 10/40 oil. Never down on dip stick. When I first start truck, oil pressure gauge is at 50 PSI give or take, when it gets warmer, when I come to a stop, the gauge goes to under 40 PSI. No knocking sounds or smoke, if I raise the idle a tiny bit with my foot, the gauge goes back to what it was originally.

Does this mean my engine is worn? Or do I need a new oil pressure sending unit?

The factory specification for hot idle oil pressure on that engine is a minimum of 13 psi. You're well above that so I'd say no problem there.
