hey Scotty I have a 1997 Camaro with a 5.7 L LT one I just replaced the engine after bearing spun and after I replaced it the only way I could start it is if I hold my foot on the gas I just bought a new fuel pressure regulator I was just wondering if you can diagnose the problem maybe it’s something else the only way I could start as if I keep my foot on the gas and keep it there if I take it off it will stall out

Check the OptiSpark module. They go bad all the time on those LT1's. It may have gotten moisture on it from the water pump.

Good comment, I agree.

have you tested the fuel pressure?

@mountainmanjoe
yes fuel pressure is fine

Did you run an OBD check with a scanner? Or any other troubleshooting steps you haven't told us? I don't want to waste my breath.

The idle control valve may not be plugged in or functioning correctly. Look there

Also its easy to overlook things putting an engine back in. Check to see if there are any vacuum lines either not hooked up or connected wrong.

Good luck and God bless. Let us know what you find.
