1997 Lincoln Town Car with 29,000 miles

Hi Scotty,

I'm buying a 1997 TC with 29k miles.  What should the first things I should do since it has spent alot of time sitting.

Thanks for any advice.

I'd first focus on safety-related items, like making sure the rotors and brake drums aren't too rusted and work well. Your tires will probably be dry-rotted and need replacement to offer real traction. Then check all those hoses and belts - they deteriorate over time, and a blown hose will put you on the side of the road, or worse. Here are some Scotty tips on getting it running, if it's not currently running. Good luck!

Did you already have a mechanic look over the car with a fine tooth comb and give his blessing?  29,000 miles over 25 years is something you find on a Corvette or Ferrari or high end sports car.  Anything’s possible but make sure that mileage is real.

Find out why the odometer is reading only 29,000 miles which means it's broken or has been tampered with.

25 years and only 29,000 miles: it’s possible but makes me very suspicious.
