Looking at a 1997 Tercel, manual transmission, 170K miles. Owner wants $1600. What do I need to be looking for in regard to problems?

Low compression, worn shift bushings, non-functioning egr valve, timing belt and tensioner, carboned up IAC motors, incorrectly adjusted vales. I would have it inspected by a qualified mechanic.
