Ive bought a 1998 Ford f150 single cab with 215,000 thousand miles on it for 3 grand. No rust, perfect paint not even spiral scratches. every bit of maintenance records have been provided. one owner. Was it a good thing to do? and what should I watch out for?

pretty much everything. Since you have the maintenance records you can use those as a guide.
