Hi Scotty. I have a 1998 Toyota Camry, 4 cylinder with 213,780 miles. I changed all belts and water pump, and now my cars smoother and faster. Is this just due to old belts? Also, my car doesn't get as hot anymore as fast since then. Thanks!

Belt slip can definitely cause a car to go slower, but I'm willing to bet some of what you are feeling is just placebo.

It's good that it is running smooth again though. A well maintained car is a happy car.
