Hard Shifting into 1st gear on 2004 Jeep Wrangler

2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, 4.0L I-6, 5-spd MT, 58K miles.

Recently it's been getting more difficult to shift into 1st gear while the vehicle is stopped (like when light turns green).  It used to be easy, push in the clutch, the input shaft slows down, and it slides into 1st.  It's still easy if the vehicle is moving slowly.  Other gear shifts feel normal.  Could this be a problem with the clutch throwout bearing?  I've done some stream crossings and maybe got water/sand into the bearing.

That's usually a symptom of the clutch not releasing fully. You probably need to bleed the clutch and/or replace hydraulic parts.

OK, I'll try bleeding clutch system. Easy enough. Thx.

You might think about some fresh transmission fluid as well based on your mileage.

Major lube on tap for 60K miles, tranny, xfer case, axels.

Nice. It will make a difference.
