2000 Honda Civic ex, ran out of gas, wasn’t driving, jus running, put gas in it and it wouldn’t start, was told it has jumped time, would it have damaged the engine?!?
Well if I did actually jump time and yes it has damage the engine severely. I would get a second opinion just to make sure the guy knew what he was talking about but if it did it's probably more than a car is worth to fix
I guess how does this guy know it jumped timing??? If the timing belt is as loose as a goose, probably did.
Running out of gas can damage the fuel pump and cause the fuel filter to become clogged by sediment. That is a more likely explanation. If your engine jumped time there will be trouble codes indicating so. You should check to see if you have fuel pressure as a first step. Good luck.
