Hi Scotty big fan! I recently bought a used 2000 Nissan Pathfinder 5speed manual for $1000. It has 252000 miles and is my first manual transmission. It failed of test and from what I heard it has 4 catalytic converters. Also has a belt squeal. I actually like the car any advice for this first time standard driver?

Check your local laws. In some circumstances for old cars, you can get a waiver. Not sure if old is considered 20 years or 25 years.
