My 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 z71 4x4 5.3 Automatic l460 transmission . 250000 miles. My shifter will only shift down as far as 2nd gear. I recently had the original transmission rebuilt. And I asked the mechanic if he could address the problem. After he finished the rebuild. He told me the problem is in the steering column. Is this a hard fix? Or is that the real issue?

Yeah a lot of times it sees as a column or the cable that the shift column pulls down having stretched he should easily be able to fix that problem if you can do a transmission job that's simple work compared to that
