car overheating gauge when driving starts to go to the red when turning on first time the car takes a longtime to heat up coolent is full but people saying is the thermostat

Take their advise..it likely is the thermostat or water pump.

Change the thermostat first. Check the cooling fans. Change the radiator.
If these didn't solve the issue, your water pump needs to be replaced.
