I have a 2001 Ram 1500 with the 5.2L. I Just swapped the old engine for a used one, took the whole used engine I'm using for the truck apart had the heads resurfaced, cleaned everything, new gaskets etc the engine looks brand new now. When the vacuum line that connects from the engine to the brake booster is not connected the truck runs great sounds great doesn’t seem like there is any thing wrong with the engine. When I plug that vacuum line into the brake booster the truck stalls out and dies. Any thoughts? Thank you
Your brake booster is bad and has a vacuum leak causing the poor running.
I put a new brake booster in
Your new brake booster is defective. Put vacuum on it to see if it holds.
A friend had this very thing happen to him while driving down the road, causing the engine to stall out. His brake booster had failed which caused a huge vacuum leak.
