Yo Whatsup Scotty , looking into buying a used 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 from a private seller, it’s got the 5.3L v-8 with the 4L60E transmission. The truck has 150,000 miles on it. He said check engine light just came on because of o2 sensor. He only wants $2500 for the truck. What do you think of this year
Scan it yourself, dont trust what he's telling you.
Look at stored codes, fuel trims, ignition timing.
If you can get into the transmission data to analyze that I suggest that too (maybe have a mechanic do so).
Look around for oil leaks or any other fluid obviously.
That gen 5.3 is one of the best motors ever made, if maintained they can go for a very long time, even if abused honestly.
The 4L60e on the other hand is known to go out around that mileage. Fortunately that was GM's go to transmission for a long time on most of their RWD setups. A good shop is very familiar with those, finding someone good to rebuild that shouldn't be too bad. If it needs it, it may be in good shape too.
Make sure its not a mad oil burner or anything (it probably burns a bit atleast), but look its a 22 year old truck.
Can be a good truck if its in good shape, and 2500 isnt much. Give it a good look over before buying.
P.S. Is it 4WD?
Yes it is 4WD
Okay good, make sure that works too and doesnt clunk or anything. Also to reply to an answer hit the red add comment button on the bottom right of the answer
