- Hello Scotty I have a quick question so I recently got a 2001 Pontiac grand am gt 3.4 l it is an automatic with about 168000 miles on it there are no codes but it tends to heat up when under a load or climbing hills I have replaced the thermostat the temperature sensor and water pump the previous owner witch it my friend had the head gasket tested and mechanic said that was good do you have any suggestions I can look at
Also it seems to stay at normal temperature when idle

Well finally heats up going uphill generally if the head gasket is not blowing it's time to replace the radiator as the age of the radiators can't dissipate heat and when you're going uphill it creates the most heat
