Hello so I have been looking for a used car for a while and finally ended up buying 2001 camry 4 cylinder. It has 140,000 miles and I bought it for $2,800. I couldn't find any major problems. My previous car was the 05 camry with the 2AZFE engine that burned oil. I had it till 330k miles before the engine died. It got featured in Scotty Kilmers channel and the title was called "Why the hell have you not bought this car" But anyways I'm not too familiar with the 2001 Camry 5SFE Engine. I heard they don't burn oil like the 2AZFE engine does and I did some research on these engines on YouTube and the engine in 4th gen camry has lot of oil seals that I need to watch for when it gets high miles like the cam plug, cam seals, oil pump seals, spark plug tube seals, spark plug tube reseal etc... The timing belt on this 4th gen camry was changed at around 70,000 miles and it is also written on the timing cover note. The serpentine belts looks new too. I dont hear any noise or anything and it drives smooth. I dont think this model camry has cabin air filter or unless if I am wrong. What problems do I need to look for on this 4th generation camry? Anybody that owned a 4th gen camry please share your thoughts. I appreciate it. Also I do most of the repair by myself and I currently go to school for automotive technology for my associates degree.
Here are a couple of reviews of the engine by the Car Care Nut
