Hi my names John from Rhode Island and I'm looking at possibly buying a 2002 Acura TL (not type R version) with the 3.2 and 5 speed automatic transmission with 130k miles for $2,400. It looks to be a great condition but the common complaint is transmission problems after a while. What do you think?

That generation (99-03) has transmission issues. I would pass on that.

I would pass on that car. Acura, like Honda goes back and forth with their reliability. Some of their vehicles like this have transmission issues and also the repairs for anything else not related to that will cost thousands of dollars.

I drove a 1999 TL 3.2, bought it with 10K and totaled it with 140K on it.   That car saved my life in the accident.  I never had a single repair on that car.

$2,400 is not a lot  to risk and it could run  for a long time
