2002 Honda Civic brake problem

I started my 2002 Honda Civic LX in below freezing temp and as I tried to pull out I could feel my brakes not allow me. I rocked car back and forth just to loosen anything up. And upon leaving I noticed my brake light was on and brake pedal went straight down. As I was on the way I decided to let go of wheel and let off excellerator and car pulled to right. Car travelled ok. Light still on. But, brake pedal kept going straight down before coming to a sliding halt. As the weather is still preventing me from going outside and taking right wheel off to inspect brakes. I WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR AT THIS POINT. What I do want to make sure of is exactly what kind of brakes I have? This will allow me to research exactly which brakes I need to watch a video on. My question is, is it my brakes? Or is it my brake cylinder?

Well if the brakes went to the floor either you have a leak somewhere or the brake master cylinder is shot. Or the brake booster is bad you can test those by doing this if the brake pedal is hard with the car turned off but then you start the car and then stuff on a brake pedal and it sinks that means the booster is bad
