Scotty, Purchased 2002 Jeep Wrangler, Sahara,90K miles, garage kept, 4x4, automatic, 4.0L., 3.73 axle ratio. This car is in excellent condition, no off road use, clean over and under the car.Haven't had any issues 1st 5k miles. No plans to do major off road use, like mountain climbing, etc. Love to drive it more. Want to change gear ratio to 3.07 and reduce rpm by 450 at 60 mph. Any down side other than off the line? Is it ok to buy used ring& pinion gears and one front carrier instead of new? I do most of my own work except transmissions and rear ends but do have access to the right mechanics.
I'm not a fan of using used parts for something that critical myself and I'm not a Jeep fan anyway. But back in 2002 they were building them better than today so take care of it if you got a good mechanic have him perform what you want done but I would not put on used parts
