Hello Scotty. I bought a 2002 Lexus ES300 for my daughter's first car. It's a good car but it has a starting problem. After it starts it idles up for a moment and then dies. It does this two or three times and then eventually it will start and stay going and idle smooth. I was told this problem has something to do with the throttle body. Is this so? I figured you might have some insight has your wife seems to have a very similar car seen featured on your videos. Thank you for any help you could offer. I really enjoy all of your instructional videos they've helped me a lot over the years. Thank you.

There could be any number of issues but you could try cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor to see if that helps. Why not scan for codes and data for clues as to what's going on? (Didn't this problem show up when the car was checked out?)
Not at all. Started like a dream. I'm afraid I don't have a sophisticated scan tool for her era of Lexus. Thanks for the suggestions.
Any OBD2 scan tool will do for reading codes for cars going back to 1996, and most inexpensive scanners today can view live data as well. (Possibly the car's engine was already warmed up when it started OK before purchase.)
