Hello. I am deciding between a 2002 Lexus es 300 and a 2008 corolla. A lot of articles on the internet said the Lexus es 300 is prone to oil sludge problems. What are a few things that I should be looking out for before buying either of these cars? This will be my first car.

08 is a good year of the Corolla they are both very reliable but the Corolla will be cheaper in the long run. Either way have a mechanic check it out before buying and make sure the mechanical condition is good. Scotty owns a same generation es300.

Mileage on each?
117,000 on the Lexus and 138,000 on the Corolla. Both are a private party. The Lexus owner says a "Tune-up" may be needed.
