I need a new one. Anyone have a recommendation? From I've heard, remanufactured ones are crummy.

According to the AM FAQ, there is no warranty on this item unless they're saying there's no warranty other than the standard 30 day warranty. I certainly hope that it lasts a lot longer than 30 days.......

FWIW, I have a stock 4.6 GT with a reman O'Reilly alternator. It went bad on me once but it's such an easy swap, and lifetime warranty so they replaced it for free. I'd rather have that than get one from American Muscle because if it goes bad I'm out an alternator for a week or two while I wait for shipping.

AM is saying they have 3 day delivery. Anyway, it;'s my understanding that even Scotty has recommended not buying alternators from the big chain stores. Regardless, I would like to think that these parts would last at least 5 years.

I never buy stuff like this online because if it's bad, I don't want to have to wait to ship it back and get another one.  I will buy from a local store where I can take it back right away to get the job done.  I always look for the best warranty before I buy.

That's a good point. But then I wonder how often these things are bad out of the box or go bad within a years time.

It's a crap shoot but I always keep the receipt, just in case. Shopping local is pretty much a convenience factor. I can't wait around for a week for, let's say, a new radiator or alternator. I need it NOW.

I bought a 130A SR Performance alternator from AM. Installed it today. Easy job. Worked right out of the box. I'm a little ticked that the box had been opened before I got it though. Hopefully it'll last 19 years like my OEM did.
